January in Review

Gaming:
Things got massively shook up in Stonehell this month, as my players discovered a sealed sublevel, and released a powerful monster upon the dungeon. They're going to be dealing with the fallout from that for a while.

My 5e game continues on, and because the Paladin player discovered how his powers actually work (finally, at level 7) my big bad got taken out in their first fight. I'd expected it to be more drawn out, but so be it. Hope they're ready to deal with the open and now undefended portal to hell.

Minis:
A surprisingly productive month. I finished painting my Eye Beast from Bones 1, and the Yetis from Bones 3.

I also finished up Reaper's Roller Girl! (Post and pictures to follow)

Total Minis Painted this month: 6
Total Minis Painted this year: 6

I'm just about done with my Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago crew, and the Herator and Warden are both very close to being done. I'm also currently working on Fulumbar the Dwarf Warrior, who isn't at this point very far along.

My Paint at Work project is on hold, as my contract wrapped up, and I'm now working at home studying for my CPA. I'll probably spend some evening just wrapping them up, since they're so close to done anyway.

Books:
Wicked Wonders by Ellen Klages - I seriously loved this collection!
Farthing by Jo Walton - Yeah, I listed this book in my year end wrap up, but I didn't actually finish it till 2018, so this is the year it counts.
Steampunk II: Steampunk Reloaded edited by Ann VanderMeer - While there were a couple of good stories in this collection, overall it failed to do what it was trying to do, which was show that Steampunk is both worthy of being considered it's own genre, and also immensely flexible in terms of the genres that steampunk can encompas. Basically, it was a muddled mess.
Beyond the Rift by Peter Watts - Another excellent story collection.
In Calabria by Peter S. Beagle - He really does love his unicorns... But a good collection anyway.

Currently Reading:

I think my reading stats are going to DROP this year, and I'm not going to hit my 50 books a year goal.

Movies:
I'm Counting Down to Infinity War, and have watched Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2. Thor is next!

Goals for February:
Finish Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago Crew
Finish Fulumbar
STUDY STUDY STUDY
