30 Day Challenge: Day 1 - How it all started

I've been meaning to post more lately, but I've ben distracted, and not by gaming. A month ago this happened:

Some asshole ran a red light and slammed into my partner as she was on her way to work. She was pretty banged up, but she's doing better. But with the accident, and everything that comes with it, there hasn't been a lot posting.

To get back into the swing of things, I'm jumping on the Dungeons and Dragons 30 Day Challenge bandwagon.

Yes, the questions are pretty simple, and may only inspire short posts, but It'll be consistent, and it should let me build up a nice buffer for October. Especially since I've been painting a bunch of my reaper bones.

Day 1 - How I got started.

My mother played D&D when I was very young, and I remember seeing the books, and not really getting it (I was 4-5) but thought the covers were pretty awesome. When I was 9, I got the Hero Quest board game, and several of the expansions. When I started making up my own magic items, and dungeons, I got the black box starter set.

I still love that picture. It was only a little after this that I got the Rules Cyclopedia, but that black box was where it all started for me.
